Private Vocal Instruction

Currently running a studio in London, Ontario, I am, at present, accepting new students.  Whether you are new to the world of music, a seasoned choral singer/director, someone who is considering university or conservatory study, or simply a person interested in improving their instrument, I offer lessons to all ages and skill levels.  Depending on your individual strengths, my lessons can offer guidance in the following areas:

  • Vocal technique: from rudimentary through to advanced
  • Diction in the major languages of song
  • Ensemble singing and choral techniques
  • Repertoire: both classical and contemporary
  • Stagecraft
  • Theory and Rudiments
  • Ear Training and Dictation
  • Acting, Presentation and Style

All lessons are taught from my home studio at 42 Empress Avenue in London, Ontario.

Complimentary First Lesson

All new students are entitled to a complimentary first lesson. The first lesson is a time for both the student and teacher to ask questions and determine whether the relationship will be effective. Because this hour is more introduction than instruction, I strongly believe that this time should come free-of-charge.

Fees

One hour = $40.00
Forty-five minutes = $35.00
One half-hour = $30.00

Choral Masterclass

Though I believe that individual attention is always best, I do conduct master classes for choral ensembles that are interested in gaining a better understanding of their instruments, their capabilities, and their function within the group.  These master classes include instruction on the same issues most individual singers experience, but are dealt with en masse.  In order to facilitate a productive session, I will, within reason, travel to the choir’s usual place of rehearsal.

The length of session, specific objectives and rates are always subject to negotiation.
